Recruited by Kevin Keegan from Reading for £1.5m in the summer of
1995, Shaka - at 6ft 4in one of the tallest players in Britain - has fought
a battle for first team supremacy with his great friend and rival Pavel
Srnicek. Last season, he played only three times before the turn of the
year, but played 20 successive matches before and after Kenny Dalglish
replaced Kevin Keegan as manager only to lose his place to Srnicek in the
run-in to the season's end. Born in London, Shaka moved to Trinidad with
his parents at the age of two, graduated in mechanical engineering at Howard
University, Washington, USA and signed for American indoor club Baltimore
Blast before returning to England with Reading in 1992.
