The longest serving Kevin Keegan signing still with United, 'Bez', and
England B, Youth and Schools International, is now in his sixth season
with United. Formerly with Manchester City and Barnsley, and bought from
Portsmouth for a bargain £650,000 in the summer of 1992, John's vivacious
attacking style made him a wing-back almost before the phrase was invented.
A major factor in United's 1992-93 First Division Championship triumph,
he made a smooth transition to the Premier League though he was later to
face stiff competition for the left-back slot from the emerging Robbie
Elliott, who moved to Bolton in July.
